Underlines commitment of GE to partner in the oil & gas sector of the Middle East

Showcase includes advanced turbomachinery products within the gas-to-liquid, natural gas liquefaction and gas reinjection sectors to advanced monitoring & diagnostic capabilities

ABU DHABI, UAE--November 10, 2012: GE Oil & Gas (NYSE: GE) is highlighting a full range of its advanced technology products and services at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference (ADIPEC), the largest event for the industry in the Middle East to be attended by representatives from over 58 countries.

GE's technology showcase will feature offerings from across the entire oil and gas business, including drilling & surface, global services, measurement & control, pipeline inspection services, subsea systems and turbomachinery. The advanced technologies highlighted by GE underline the company's commitment to further strengthen its partnerships in the oil & gas sector of the region by promoting operational efficiencies and sustainable growth.

Rami Qasem, Chief Executive Officer for GE Oil & Gas in the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey, said: "Continuing to grow its capabilities in the region, GE Oil & Gas is a leader in localization initiatives that meet the customers' needs in the Middle East. Our strategy in the region is to be a growth partner for the energy infrastructure development by understanding the needs of our customers' in the public and private sectors, and supporting them to meet their business goals. Focused on driving greater efficiency and the environmentally-responsible deployment of oil & gas reserves, we are highlighting our advanced technologies at ADIPEC, a key event that brings together prominent industry stakeholders."

The technologies displayed by GE at ADIPEC range from advanced turbomachinery products within the gas-to-liquid, natural gas liquefaction and gas reinjection sectors to advanced monitoring and diagnostic capabilities. These innovative solutions confirm GE Oil & Gas' commitment to address today's environmental challenges while driving economic growth.

This is particularly important for a region like the Middle East that is seeking to reduce its carbon dioxide emissions while at the same time increasing the productivity of its oil and gas industry. Products like the ORegen waste heat recovery system that enables a gas turbine to produce extra power without any additional emissions or fuel consumption and no water use, or the emissions-reducing Integrated Compressor Line technology support these objectives. Both solutions received GE's ecomagination qualification that is awarded to products that simultaneously increase productivity and operational efficiency while reducing the environmental footprint.

GE Oil & Gas technology and innovation leadership is particularly significant in the region in relation to the LNG industry, which is growing in importance worldwide and is driven by both economic and environmental benefits. This trend plays to the strength of GE Oil & Gas' offerings that range from large capacity liquefaction compressor trains to Micro LNG plants. LNG is a suitable substitute to diesel for powering remote locations both for industrial and residential use. LNG represents a cleaner alternative to diesel for trucks and the transportation industry, enabling overall reductions in combustion emissions up to 25 percent and in costs up to 35-40 percent.

To help oil and gas pipeline operators improve their ability to detect coincident flaws that potentially could lead to costly pipeline failures, PII Pipeline Solutions,  GE Oil & Gas and Al Shaheen joint venture, recently added its Coincident Feature Assessment Service technology to its suite of inspection software. The service helps customers easily identify coincident cracks, dents, corrosion and other anomalies across multiple in-line inspection runs.

GE Oil & Gas continues to expand its presence in the Middle East. An example is the recently expanded Gulf Turbine Services facility in Abu Dhabi, which has doubled its work force to 100 people and offers enhanced levels of service for the region's energy industry. GE has also expanded the GE Manufacturing Technology Center, in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, and supports customers in leadership development through the acclaimed Oil & Gas University, which has set up an Abu Dhabi chapter and is training employees from Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) in advanced technical and managerial skills. GE has set up a chapter of the Oil & Gas University in Qatar too.

GE Oil & Gas is partnering with its customers in the region to provide them with the solutions they need that extend beyond traditional maintenance and equipment. During the course of 2012, GE Oil & Gas has delivered nearly 34,000 man hours of training for customers in the Middle East alone. GE Oil & Gas technical courses allow customers to take advantage of OEM (original equipment manufacturing) expertise in order to provide them with the skills they need to operate and maintain GE's equipment. Technical courses are delivered by experts with years of experience in the design and operation of rotating equipment.

GE Oil & Gas has been active in the Middle East for more than 30 years, employing more than 800 people at 10 locations.
