Initiative being held as part of DSF 2009's Family Health Festival aims to raise health awareness and highlight importance of adopting healthier lifestyle
Times Square Center (TSC), one of the newest community oriented shopping center in Dubai, has announced that it is participating in the first Family Health Festival, being held as part of the ongoing Dubai Shopping Festival 2009 activities. In line with this, Times Square Center is organising free health check ups and health counseling from February 05 to February 15, from 4p.m. to 10 p.m. Through this initiative TSC aims to help raise public health awareness while underlining the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
The Family Health Festival is a first-of-its-kind health initiative conceived to generate awareness among the residents about various health problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity, among others. In addition to the free health check ups, the campaign features informative talks by various specialists and health experts. Furthermore, information booklets about different ailments will also be distributed to the participants and on weekends there will be health-related games for kids and adults that give them a chance to win prizes.
Pierre Issa, Director for Operations, Sharaf Group, said, "Today's fast-paced life and changing lifestyles are resulting in a range of health-related problems for residents in the Gulf region. What makes the situation worse is the limited understanding about various ailments, its symptoms and the best course of treatment, which leads to further complications. This underscores the importance of raising the level of public health awareness in the UAE, and Times Square Center, being a family-oreinted shopping center, is committed to play a pivotal role in this regard."
"Participating in the Family Health Festival also perfectly complements TSC's corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives which aim to significantly help the local community. Moreover, we believe that Times Square Center is more than just a shopping mall; it is an important venue for community programs and undertakings that benefit the family, the basic unit of society."
The Family Health Festival was conceived by ExHealth and is supported by Dubai Health Care City and Green Crescent Insurance Company. The free health check ups and related activities are being held at Global Village and various shopping malls in Dubai on specific dates from 4 pm to 10 pm.
