H2's Role in Hollywood blockbuster emphasizes uniqueness of brand
Dubai, UAE - There's an unusual HUMMER heading towards the region. It's screen name is "AUTOBOT RATCHET™ and was one of the highly visible four characters in Transformers, the Hollywood flick that has been enthralling movie goers around the globe since July.
Ratchet (Mécano in Canada, Racsni in Hungary and Doc in Italy) is the chief medic of the Autobots in the Transformers television and is well-remembered by fans of the original comic series, in which he played a major role. Although Transformers is based on the popular Hasbro action figures and is the story of aliens who take on mechanical forms when they arrive on earth, the silver screen character has been derived from a HUMMER H2 rescue vehicle.
"HUMMER is a brand that attracts a lot of attention; on-road, off-road and on the silver screen", said Ahmed Sodoudi, Marketing Manager for HUMMER in the Middle East. "The unique character of HUMMER in real life complements its reel role in the movie. No ordinary car could have justified the character as the HUMMER did".
In the beginning, HUMMER was a vehicle in a class by itself, with extreme style and capability, unmatched and untouched by the competition. While maintaining the brand's trademark bold design and unmatched off-road capability, the brand has successfully expanded its model line-up while adding exclusivity to the SUV and SUT segments. The HUMMER range is as exciting as ever.
The larger than life HUMMER H2 in either its SUV or SUT guises stands out anywhere with its distinctive styling. For 2008, both models have a completely redesigned and more refined interior, enhanced safety features and more power.
At the heart of the H2 is a new lightweight 393hp 6.2-litre V8 engine and that uses variable valve timing technology and new Hydra-Matic 6L80 RWD electronically controlled six-speed automatic transmission. The new powertrain improves efficiency by at least 20 per cent when compared with previous models.
Although HUMMER is a brand that attracts a lot of attention and enjoys tremendous success in the Middle East, its movie role has further widened the awareness of the HUMMER's iconic design and performance across to new audiences across the globe.
Ratchet will also dazzle the audiences at the GM Style Dubai, a night with the stars at the Madinat Arena to be held on November 11.
