Dubai: 3 March, 2009 - The Energy and Environment Park (ENPARK), a sustainable community model for commercial and residential use and a member of TECOM Investments, announced it has successfully installed STREETSUN, a solar-powered street lamp within Dubai Media City (DMC) in collaboration with Dubai-based Zala Energy FZ-LLC and Germany-based Ralos GmbH.

The four-metre high solar lamp is located at the DMC parking lot behind Building No. 1 (Reuters Building) and includes a solar array that harnesses the power of the sun to provide lighting to an area of 25 meters in diameter. The solar-powered light can be installed independently and economically, saving power costs and offering pollution-free energy.

Installed with the help of a specially developed foundation system without intensive trench work or digging, the solar street lamp requires no maintenance for at least six years. It is additionally equipped with the capacity to keep sunlight-induced energy in reserve for ensuring availability of night time light even during successive days of poor light.
