Dubai, UAE; September 26, 2011: Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) has won Asia's top laurel for Best Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Practice at the Asian Leadership Awards (ALA), which honours super achievers in the continent.
Khalid Hadi, Director of Brand and Corporate Communications of ENOC received the Award from the organizers at an awards ceremony held in Dubai.
Commenting on the prestigious award Hadi said: "The Asian Leadership Award for Best Corporate Social Responsibility is a strong testament to our organisation's continued commitment to enhance the lives of the people and the society we serve in - not just in the Middle East but across all our growth markets. The Award will further inspire us to identify relevant CSR initiatives and work with our stakeholders to make a difference - social, economic, professional and environmental."
The Asian Leadership Awards are hosted by the Asian Confederation of Businesses and supported by the Stars of the Industry Group. The Awards are dedicated to high-level knowledge exchange through thought leadership and networking amongst decision makers across industry segments in Asia.
ENOC was adjudged for the award chosen from 'outstanding consumer products, manufacturers and companies focusing on the trademarks or brands,' based on mind share, market share, commitment and demonstration of excellent leadership and management skills to implement changes that help achieve the desired results.
From supporting disadvantaged families and special needs people to promoting global charity initiatives, ENOC has been at the forefront of several CSR campaigns. Among its various initiatives that make a valuable difference to the society include the annual ENOC Challenge and Masiraty programmes aimed at enhancing the professional and social skills of the participants.
Organized by ENOC in partnership with Rashid Paediatric Therapy Centre in Dubai and the Community Development Authority, 'ENOC Challenge' is a comprehensive nine-month training programme that targets individuals with special needs. The Masiraty programme, launched by ENOC in association with the Ministry of Social Affairs in April last year, encourages individuals on welfare to become part of the business workforce by providing them a four-month long training programme.
In key charity initiatives, ENOC undertakes several concerted campaigns all through the year, and particularly during the Holy Month of Ramadan. This year, ENOC raised funds for Beit Al Khair Society, The Red Crescent Authority (RCA), and Dar Al Ber Society during Ramadan, while Emirates Gas, as subsidiary of the company joined hands with Dar Al Ber Society to provide 300 disadvantaged families in the UAE with free LPG refill. ENOC has also been a key partner of the 'Care by Giving' campaign aimed at increasing awareness about autism and raising funds for the Dubai Autism Center.
