2-day workshop to introduce delegates to Green Building Core Concepts and the LEED® Rating Systems.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates: The British University in Dubai (BUiD) and Emirates Green Building Council (EGBC) have launched their new format 2-day workshop to prepare delegates for the LEED Green Associate exam.

The LEED Green Associate qualification is the first step on the path to becoming a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP). The LEED Workshop is recommended for Engineers and Architects, indeed anyone who wants to learn about Green Building concepts and the LEED rating system.

Alan Millin, chartered engineer and LEED Accredited Professional who led the 2-day workshop Commented: "It is an honour to be invited to support the BUiD and EGBC in promoting sustainable development through the LEED GA programme. On this occasion the delegates were from widely differing backgrounds and it was inspiring to hear them share their own experiences and efforts to promote sustainability. It was my privilege to facilitate this LEED GA workshop attended by so many delegates who are all actively promoting sustainability in their everyday lives."

Throughout the workshop delegates discussed green building core concept and were presented with sample exam questions to prepare them for the LEED Green Associate exam.

The workshop was very well received as Mr. Adnan Sharafi- Chairman of Emirates Green Building Council said: "Emirates Green Building Council is committed to promoting sustainable practices and their application in the built environment. We support the implementation of assessment tools that can be used to assist in the measurement of sustainability. As part of our commitment to education and fostering development of UAE professionals, Emirates GBC has partnered with The British University in Dubai to facilitate LEED training workshops. These workshops train professionals on the credentials of the LEED rating tool and serve as first step for professionals interested in becoming accredited with LEED through US Green Building Council. Emirates GBC regularly receives enquires on LEED, and by partnering with BUiD to offer the LEED training workshops, we are working to meet the needs and interest of the community. The success of the last course held in Feb. 18th- 19th shows there is strong demand for such workshops."

After completing the workshop delegates will understand the core concepts of green building and the LEED rating systems and will be familiar with the forms of questions presented in the LEED Green Associate exam. The LEED workshops are part of University focus on sustainability, spearheaded through its specialist Masters in Sustainable Design, developed in cooperation with the Welsh School of Architecture (Cardiff University) and federally accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research
