Initiative Part of Strategy to Support Local Talent

Dubai: 16 November, 2009 - Dubai Biotechnology and Research Park (DuBiotech), the major life sciences hub in the Middle East and a member of TECOM Investments, today announced it organised a simulated marketing project for a group of students at Dubai Men's College.

The one-month hands-on programme tasked final year e-Business Management students to identify and approach life sciences companies from the GCC countries  and formulate an appropriate marketing strategy to advise them on the benefits of locating their operations within DuBiotech. The participants were also required to benchmark the experiences of biotech research organizations that are emerging in the region.

Marwan Abdulaziz, Director, DuBiotech said: "Our objective in organizing the simulation project is to help enhance the skills sets of talented youngsters and equip them with the necessary wherewithal to take up new ventures. DuBiotech is committed to recruiting UAE nationals of the highest quality and helping them embark on a successful career path.

The DuBiotech programme was designed to instill real life strategic marketing concepts, and incorporate theories of market and competitive behaviour. Currently, DuBiotech hosts some of the world's top pharmaceutical/biotechnology companies such as Pfizer, Genzyme and Merck Serono, and has firmly established itself as a globally recognized centre for the life science industries.
