Dubai - 13 June 2007: The Dubai Taxi Agency of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that it has 252 vehicles including two taxis for people of special needs efficiently operating with highly safety and security criteria on the Dubai International Airport Line to cater to the travelers who land in Dubai.
Abdul Aziz Malik, CEO of Dubai Taxi Agency confirmed that the commuters that had used Dubai taxis were around 273 thousand and carried via 136 thousand trips during May of the current year.
"This service is considered very important due to Dubai's key position as a regional trade center and an attraction point for investors from different parts of the world, which requires a sophisticated fleet of taxis to service the travelers coming to Dubai in a way that mirrors the first impression picture of Dubai," said Malik.
He pointed out that within the framework of Dubai Taxi's commitment to combine safety and security with comfort and luxury and in accordance with RTA's Strategic Plan of providing the best services to different social cross-sections, the new taxis had been equipped with the latest technology like, GPS operating via satellite to facilitate the commuters arrival and carry them to their specified destinations through the smoothest ways.
"The divers of this service enjoy special qualities and capabilities differentiating them from their counterparts who drive throughout Dubai's roads and streets such as their mastery of Arabic, English and Asian languages, and their skills to deliver the most advanced services to the public and their tactfulness in dealing with the commuters of different nationalities and ethnics," he added.
Malik explained that this category of drivers was granted advanced theoretical and practical training sessions on to use of the safety and security systems on the vehicle, driving skills and dealing with commuters and tourists, and being well-versed on different governmental locations, tourist and entertainment spots and others.
It is worth noting that Dubai Taxi Agency has kicked off the 'Ladies' Taxi' end of last year to address the needs of different family members, especially the women who prefer to enjoy their privacies on board taxis provided with comfort and safety features.
Malik indicated that 16 new and comfortable vehicles had been operational in the first phase making provision to the ladies' privacies, distinctive in their rosy color tops and driven by 30 skilled female drivers who are familiar with customers care according to the social traditions, confirming that 'Ladies' Taxi' can be found in various locations and utilities all over Dubai and to the rest of emirates. This service can be booked via calling the Reservation and Distribution Unit on 04-2080808 operating all week days from 6.00 AM to 1.00 after midnight non stop.
