World-class multi-purpose hub's employment and professional development prospects were presented at HCT Recruitment Fair

January 02, 2008: Dubai Maritime City, the world's first purpose-built maritime centre and a member of the Dubai World Group of companies, has announced that it is showcasing the state-of-the-art maritime hub's wide range of employment prospects and other professional development opportunities available for students during the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) Recruitment Fair, that is taking place tomorrow (Thursday, 03 January 2008) at Sharjah Men's College.

Dubai Maritime City's participation involved a comprehensive presentation of its sophisticated development concept, its core operations and the various career prospects it is offering, particularly for graduating college students. The participation was part of Dubai Maritime City's ongoing program to actively support various initiatives that contribute to the UAE's economic development.

"Dubai Maritime City is highly committed to contribute to the overall development of the UAE's human capital. A major factor of the country's progress is its ability to develop a large pool of talented, innovative and productive professional workforce. We recognise the academic community's major influence in this process, and we are pleased to extend support to the various activities initiated by educational institutions such as HCT's Recruitment Fair," said Ali Al-Daboos, COO, Dubai Maritime City.

The Recruitment Fair was part of the final assessment in Human Resource Development among HCT's eBusiness Management students. The event required the students to design and develop exhibition stands that highlighted HR policies and practices that contribute to business success of local public and private organisations.

To further improve its ability to contribute to the human resource development of the UAE, an Academic Quarter has been incorporated into the multi-use centre, which is dedicated to various world-class educational facilities, including the upcoming Maritime Education University.

Dubai Maritime City also recently played host to a delegation of more than 46 MBA students and professors from New York University's Stern School of Business, who witnessed a comprehensive presentation of the maritime city's construction methods and the progress that has been achieve at the 2.27-million square metre construction site.

"Societal welfare is of utmost priority to us and we have implemented programs that enhance our contribution to the society in various ways. Aside from supporting human resource development, we also have a strict policy within Dubai Maritime City that requires all developers to secure green building certification for all their projects. These initiatives are part of our aim to be a role model in promoting the benefits of CSR and helping achieve sustainable development at all fronts," said Al-Daboos.

On completion, DMC will encompass Harbour Offices, Harbour Residences, the Maritime Centre, an Academic Quarter, a Marina District, and the industrial quarter managed by Jadaf Dubai.
