On the sidelines of Dubai International Boat Show 2017, the Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA), the government authority charged with regulating, coordinating and supervising all aspects of Dubai’s maritime sector, has reviewed the most distinctive features of its wide portfolio of smart applications and interactive services specially designed to ensure the happiness of the maritime sector’s customers. The DMCA is participating as the Supporting Governmental Maritime Authority of the region’s leading marine luxury, leisure and lifestyle event taking place at the Dubai Club International Marine Club, Mina Seyahi in Dubai.
The DMCA’s smart solutions have received overwhelming response from the visitors of Dubai International Boat Show 2017 because of their interactive features. These apps are in line with the Authority’s efforts to provide the best smart services that complement the Dubai Government’s vision of building a smart, integrated and connected city that meets the requirements of the future.
Visitors to the DMCA’s pavilion at the biggest event of its kind in the field of maritime navigation in the Middle East have shown their interest in the Smart DMCA application as an important interactive platform to access rich information about operations and take advantage of interactive functions. Some of the features of the apps are Smart Weather, Dubai Coast Today, and Self-Assessment Marine Craft Driving Quiz, among others.
The exhibitors and visitors also gained insights on the advantages of Dubai Maritime Intelligence as an informative and cognitive online smart system that helps enhance the efficiency and competitiveness of Dubai’s maritime sector. It presents statistical data related to the maritime sector based on an interactive, connected and integrated set of patterns, graphic screens, cognitive and digital indicators related to all main and sub-sectors of the maritime sector.
The DMCA’s smart applications portfolio showcased at the 25th Dubai International Boat Show includes the Smart Navigation application which interactively displays and tracks the movement of marine vessels in Dubai’s waters. The Smart Inspector, on the other hand, is a mobile-enabled channel that allows electronic inspection, updating of data, and generating results of maritime tests in real time. Another app, the Smart Customer, enables customers to access all kinds of maritime services, including marine craft licensing.
The Smart Exam application evaluates the efficiency of customers who have applied for a Marine Craft License without the need to visit the DMCA's headquarters. Lastly, the Smart Weather provides an ideal platform for getting comprehensive and detailed information on the marine weather along with practical tips on how to deal with weather conditions on local coasts and within Dubai’s territorial waters. This smart gate enables users to access marine weather forecasts of up to nine days which are updated several times a day. These forecasts can also be interactively accessed through smart devices around the clock.
Mahmoud Oweida, Director of Information Technology, Dubai Maritime City Authority, expressed his delight over the positive response received by the smart solutions portfolio and the interactive platforms. He stated that all the features reflect the latest technological innovations, complementing the government’s vision to accelerate maritime transactions in compliance with the highest standards of efficiency and reliability. He pointed out that these applications and platforms are in line with the DMCA’s aspirations to make government services easier, simpler and faster through the smart services, ensuring the happiness of customers and the welfare of the community.
“Our successive achievements in the field of smart transformation have prompted us to further develop our smart applications based on the best innovative practices and in line with the DMCA’s commitment to contribute actively to make Dubai the world’s smartest and happiest city as directed of our wise leadership. We look forward to serve the maritime community by creating world-class services that are accessible via interactive smart platforms to meet the needs and expectations of customers quickly, easily and efficiently without the need to visit the DMCA’s headquarters. This supports the ambitious plan of the government to reduce the number of applicants by 80 per cent by 2018,” concluded Oweida.
The DMCA is participating in Dubai International Boat Show 2017 with an integrated portfolio of maritime licensing services, smart applications, and pioneering initiatives to bring happiness to customers of the maritime sector. It has issued renewable maritime permits for visiting and participating yachts valid for three months, allowing permit holders to sail and anchor within Dubai’s territorial waters. Visitors to the DMCA’s pavilion are receiving the ‘Dubai Powerboat Handbook,’ an introductory book in Arabic and English, for free.
