Event Programme a Voyage into the World of Disney

Dubai - Dubai Cares, the campaign to help educate one million children in poor countries, is bringing the world of Disney to Dubai for a one-day charity event, the Disney Symphony - the Magical Music of Walt Disney.  The event is being held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Saeed bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The event will be staged at the Dubai Creek Park on 15 October, 2007 from 7pm - 9pm. The symphony orchestra will present a musical journey featuring Walt Disney's movies, including the Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Mary Poppins, and The Lion King and will be accompanied by 2 giant LED screens displaying scenes from each movie.

Act 1 of the programme - approximately fifty minutes - will begin at 7:00 with a Disney Classics Overture followed by orchestral renditions of Tarzan, The Little Mermaid, Hercules, Mary Poppins and Beauty and the Beast.  Act 2 will take the audience through a musical journey of classics Rescuers Down Under, Aladdin Orchestral, Mulan, The Hunchback of Notre Dame and The Lion King.

All proceeds from sale of tickets will be donated to the Dubai Cares campaign, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The Disney Symphony will be an all-family affair, coinciding with the Eid-Al-Fitr celebrations. The event will also include off-stage activities for children prior to the show and a food court. The event will culminate in a 3-minute pyrotechnic spectacular, marking the grand finale to the magical evening.

Tickets for the show are on sale now and are available at the venue or can be purchased online at www.showbizme.com or www.dubaicares.ae or by contacting 04 366 22 77 today between 10am - 9pm and tomorrow Friday between 3pm and 9pm through the Eid holidays. Pick-up points for purchased tickets include Virgin Mega Stores in Mall of the Emirates and Deira City Centre.

Dubai Cares is the latest in a line of international initiatives that express Dubai's willingness to play an effective role in securing a better tomorrow for future generations.  The campaign is Dubai's contribution to a global drive to help countries achieve their U.N. Millennium Development Goals of providing primary education to every child by 2015.
