Dubai, United Arab Emirates, May 2nd, 2007: One of the countries leading attractions, Dubai Autodrome has to be on the "must visit list" for motor sports enthusiasts visiting the UAE. The facility, built and run to a world-class standard, is now spawning a growing environment of related commercial and entertainment activities around it - the stunning MotorCity development.
Opened in October 2004 Dubai Autodrome has taken its place in international motor sport calendars and the track is part of the blossoming motor sport world developing now in the Gulf Region. Fully integrated in the MotorCity development, it includes an FIA sanctioned 5.39km circuit, offering six different track configurations, a Race & Drive Centre and a CIK approved karting track.
Dubai Autodrome has already hosted international races for the FIA GT Championship and A1 Grand Prix, staged two international status 24 Hour Saloon and Sports Car Races and developed the first ever national motor racing programme in the UAE. The repertoire of motor sport activities that include not just spectacular car and motor cycle racing, but car and motor cycle Track Days, starter competitions for standard cars and full race training courses for cars and motor cycles.
One of the unique features of Dubai Autodrome is the Race & Drive Centre that offers public driving experiences in a wide range of cars. It is the perfect place for novices to try his or her hand at track driving. The Race & Drive Centre offers a variety of sporting vehicles with 150 bhp to 400 bhp under the hood, including the Audi A3, A4 and S4 and the Subaru Impreza WRX Sti, GTS sports car and the purpose built Formula Dubai Single seater cars. The vehicles are specifically prepared for circuit use and maintained to the highest standard. The customer experience has been developed by industry professionals and is delivered by the Centres own in-house trained multi-lingual instructors, who can boast a wide range of racing experience.
The "Driving Experience" begins with a 20-minute classroom briefing on driving techniques and participants then take three laps along with instructors, who point out the racing line, teach braking and car handling techniques, all of benefit to their daily road driving experiences. After a few more laps to get themselves and their vehicles conditioned, the applicants finally get to go on a fast lap, to see just how much they have learnt and how much fun you can have!
The joy of zipping around in vehicles half the size of a formula one racer, hugging the track with massive amounts of corner grip can only be felt by somebody who has been karting! Karting is one the fastest growing forms of motor sport in the world and Dubai Autodrome has an outdoor Kartdrome purpose built to the highest standards with its own fleet of expertly prepared karts. It can accommodate corporate activities for over 100 guests as well as running regular arrive and drive sessions for individual guests. It is even floodlit to be able to offer atmospheric track action in the cooler evening periods! New for 2007 will be an additional Indoor Karting track, offering an additional track challenge and with various other associated entertainment activities. The Indoor Circuit is due for completion in the latter part of this year.
