'fdi Dubai 2007' exhibition spaces completely booked

Dubai - A top-level delegation from Dubai, which took part in the 32nd International Dental Show in Cologne, Germany, has succeeded in attracting top dental companies from around the world for 'fdi Dubai 2007', the Annual World Dental Congress and Exhibition scheduled to be held in Dubai in October.

The delegation successfully marketed the spaces for the exhibition, which will be organised on the sidelines of the annual Congress, to be held at Dubai International Conference and Exhibition Centre from October 24-27, 2007.

To be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Minister of Finance and Industry, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Department of Health and Medical Services (DOHMS) in Dubai, the Annual Congress and Exhibition is expected to attract more than 20,000 participants from all sectors of the dental fraternity - including doctors, manufacturers and suppliers of dental equipment. The four-day forum will be held under the theme "The dental diversity in the land of tomorrow".

The high level official delegation from DOHMS, which promoted the Annual Dental Congress in Cologne, was led by Dr Ahmed Al Banna, Member of fdi Dubai 2007 Higher Committee and Deputy Chairman of the Organising Committee.

In his comments, Dr Al Banna said that the delegation succeeded in booking all the spaces allocated for the high-profile exhibition. He added that the exhibition will be organised across three major halls at the Dubai International Conference and Exhibition Centre and will showcase the latest technology and advancements in the dental sector, coupled with the latest medical and diagnostic tools.

Dr Al Banna said the prestigious event would not be a success without the trust and confidence on Dubai's regulatory and administrative framework to host events of such scale and magnitude. He said fdi Dubai 2007 will be a great success, thanks to the persistent efforts of the Dubai government, allied institutions and the non-governmental organisations. Dr Al Banna added that Dubai has consistently marketed itself by participating in global exhibitions and events in line with the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015, developed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The high-level delegation to Cologne also comprised Dr. Tareq Khoury, Member of the fdi Dubai 2007 Higher Committee and Chairman of the Scientific Committee, Abdul Salam Al Madani, Member of the Higher Committee, Aiman Al Madani, Member of the Hospitality and Media Committee, and Hamza Abbas from the Media Department at DOHMS.

During the visit, the delegation held numerous meetings with the World Dental Federation as well as the European Dental Federation to discuss the preparations to host the delegations of 193 participating countries during fdi Dubai 2007.

The delegation also hosted a reception in Cologne, which was attended by Dr Michle Aerden, FDI President, heads of delegations of participating countries at fdi Dubai 2007, representatives of international companies operating in the sector and media.

At the reception, Dr Al Banna presented a short audio-visual to promote fdi Dubai 2007 -- the biggest world conference to be held in Dubai since the Annual Meetings of the Board of Governors of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund in 2003.

The documentary generated a lot of interest among the attendees at the reception as it showcased Dubai's potential to host global meetings, conferences and international exhibitions across various cultural, scientific, economic and industrial spheres. It also emphasised the significant role of Dubai as one of the top financial centres in the world, following the establishment of Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) in 2005.

Dr Al Banna said that the film further reiterated the efforts made by Dubai to maintain its international stature as one of the most important tourist destinations in the globe, backed by its luxurious hotels, world-class tourist facilities and recreational amenities.

During the visit, the high-level delegation also held a press conference, addressed by Dr. Al Banna, Dr. Khoury, Abdul Salam Al Madani, Dr Aerden and Johann Barnard, Executive Director of World Dental Federation. The press conference highlighted the importance and significance of fdi Dubai 2007.

Addressing the press conference, Dr Aerden expressed her confidence on the success of the event in Dubai, given the enormous care given to minute details as well as the generous hospitality which awaits all the international participants from the Dubai government and departments affiliated to it.

In his speech at the press conference, Dr Al Banna stated that all preparatory modalities for fdi Dubai 2007 have been chalked out, including the hospitality as well as the logistical aspects.
