Nissan GT-R receives 'Best Sports Car' and overall 'Car of the Year' awards
The Nissan GT-R has triumphantly 'crossed the finishing line of 2009' by scooping two of the region's most coveted automotive media awards. Nissan's supercar for 'Anyone, anytime, anywhere' won the overall '2009 Car of the Year' award and '2009 Sports Car of the Year' awards from CAR Middle East magazine. The awards were received by Nissan's Managing Director Atsuo Kosaka at a ceremony in Dubai on 15th December.
"The Nissan GT-R has been on a winning streak ever since we officially launched it in February this year" said Atsuo Kosaka, Managing Director of Nissan Middle East. "There were some excellent finalists that the GT-R had to beat to win car of the year and we are extremely honored that CAR Middle East's judging panel rated the GT-R as number 1" he concluded.
The Nissan GT-R was chosen as overall Car of the Year from a field of 10 category winners. "Each of the ten category winners is a brilliant car - 2009 has truly been a great period for excellent new metal. But there can only be one winner - one car that trumps all the others. A car that shows just what a manufacturer can do should it put its mind to it and this is the Nissan GT-R," commented Tom Bird, Editor of Car Middle East Magazine.
The Nissan GT-R already received several recognitions from magazines in the Middle East including the 'Super-Car of the Year' award from the Arabic edition of BBC Top Gear Magazine and 'Car of the Year' from Middle East Car Magazine. The Nissan GT-R received the "Most Advanced Technology Award (Car of the Year Japan 2008-2009)" and was named the "2009 Motor Trend Car of the Year™ (USA)," among a number of other prestigious accolades.
The Nissan GT-R was developed with a new understanding and appreciation of the Earth's natural forces - gravity, inertial force and aerodynamics - and translates those forces into a completely new design, maximizing tire grip and airflow.
Basic vehicle dynamics and integration with the driver have also been examined, resulting in new componentry and creating a Human-Machine Interface (HMI) never seen before in the marketplace. All of these theories have been integrated to balance "speed and fuel efficiency," "power and clean emission" and "high performance and safety."
The Nissan GT-R is on sale through a limited number of Nissan High Performance Centers in selected locations throughout the Middle East now. Nissan also displayed the ultra-high performance version of the GT-R - the 'SpecV' edition- at the 2009 Dubai International Motor Show.
