Dubai Municipality has organized a special training for its staff this week on Innovative ways in problem solving and decision making. The course is being conducted as part of the ongoing internal training programme of the civic body for the year 2007.

Ahmed Ibrahim Al Zarouni, Head of Human Resources Development Section in the Personnel Department said the course, to be held on 19 to 21 March, will be attended by a group of heads of units and administrative officers in the municipality.

He said the course is aimed at enhancing the skills of the participants in understanding the problems at work and of the employees, the methods of dealing with the problems and using innovative ways and applying creative thinking in diagnosing, analyzing and solving problems.

Al Zarouni said the second training course of the week called, "Developing work with a team spirit," will be held separately for male and female employees from the departments of Information Technology, Environment, General Projects and the GIS Centre. It will be conducted on March 19 and 20 at Jumeirah Beach and Creek parks.

He said the course is aimed at creating awareness among the participants about the significance of group work and developing team spirit among them, the methods of forming working groups and the impact of group work on the performance of the organization.

Al Zarouni said the third training course of the week called, "Time and self management and controlling the work pressures," will be held from 18 to 20 March. The course would be attended by a group of officers and administrative support staff in the municipality.

He said the participants would be familiarized with the reasons, forms and sources of work pressures and ways of bettering the condition. They will be briefed on the methods of time management on daily, weekly, monthly or annual bases and developing the participants' skills in innovation and novelty regarding time management. They will also be acquainted with the modern methods of controlling work pressures.

There will also be presentations on certain applications in time management, economic, organizational and behavioural impacts of time management, and some success stories in time management.

Al Zarouni said the fourth training course of the week called, "Bases and principles of accountancy for bill collectors," will be held from 18 to 20 March. The course would be attended by a group of bill collectors in the municipality.

He said the course is aimed at introducing the participants the bases and principles of accountancy, teaching them how to read financial statements and introduce them the procedures of collecting municipality revenues.
