Dubai, UAE - The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) participates at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament (NAS) throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
Held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, NAS has successfully raised awareness about the capabilities of people with disabilities— in the last four years— by merging them with athletes in a competitive sports environment.
DHA is taking part in the competitive sport environment— that brings together athletes from different nationalities— by having a platform where valuable information about how to lead a healthy lifestyle will be shared with the public.
Dr Ahmad Bin Kalban CEO of the Hospital Services Sector said that a total of 24 doctors and 48 nurses will be stationed at NAS to provide the public with health treatment and awareness, while they take part in the different sports activities available at the stand and the tournament.
He added that there will be different clinics at NAS to oversee the event’s different activities, they include the 75 km smart cycling clinic, which will be held from June 10 to 11, the 10km marathon clinic, which will be held on June 3 and the night competition clinic which will be held in May 1. The Medical team will be stationed at NAS to provide medical care at the tournament from 8:30pm to 1:30.
At the event, DHA is holding fun sport activities to raise awareness about the importance of exercising.
Among these activities is the smart cycling competition where the public can compete to see which person can cycle the fastest and burn the most calories.
DHA sees NAS as an opportunity to raise awareness about what it takes to lead a healthy and happy lifestyle as well as raise awareness about the significance of making exercise a daily part of people’s routine, said Bin Kalban.
Raising such awareness will prevent diseases and health complications and this will lead to a happier and healthier society— which is part of the Dubai Health Authority’s goal.
