Dubai, 11 November, 2009: In an effort to promote the use of online services, the Dubai Health Authority announced today the winner of the DHA 'Best online customer' award which is part of an initiative launched by the Dubai e-government.

The initiative recognises customers who use online services of various government departments in Dubai to make their payments.

This includes the DHA, and as part of this initiative, the DHA announced that it would give-away blackberry mobile phones to customers, who used certain DHA online services from the 1st of September to the 15th of October, 2009.

The online transactions included making e-payments for the renewal or issuance of new or duplicate health cards and medical fitness tests

The draw was held on all the four days of GITEX.

His Excellency Khalid Ahmed Al Sheikh Mubarak, CEO Shared Services Support at the DHA, presented the award to a daily-wage labourer who used the DHA online service to pay for his medical fitness test. 

The function took place in his office in the presence of Mr Ali Mohamad Ebrahim Al Ali, IT Director at the DHA.

The winner of the award, Malaichamy Somiya, 32, is a steel fitter who has been living in Dubai for the past three years. Prior to winning this award; Somiya did not own a mobile phone. 

Al Mubarak said, "The DHA is keen to enhance the use of its e-services and would like to encourage customers to make use of our online facilities. This initiative is our endeavour to support the Dubai e-government in their efforts to promote customers to use online services offered by the various government departments in Dubai. The DHA has introduced many online services for the convenience of our customers and we constantly strive to improve our services and introduce new ones." 

Al Ali said that the DHA has facilitated online payments for various services related to health cards, medical fitness tests and licenses.
