Dubai: The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has recently added new features to the DHA app to provide community members with added convenience.
The app allows users to access various health services such as booking an appointment for a COVID-19 screening. The app also allows users to book an appointment for administration of the flu vaccine at its health centres. It provides complete appointment management, which includes booking, rescheduling and canceling appointments at DHA facilities. At a later stage, users will be able to book appointments with doctors in private hospitals as well.
Bakhita Ismail, Senior System Analyst at the DHA’s IT department highlighted these features at the DHA stand at GITEX.
She said, “The look and feel of the app is very modern and we have added several important services such as booking an appointment for COVID-19 screening. Additionally, all test reports are available for patients that visit DHA facilities on the app. The results are in a downloadable format for added convenience.”
She said patients can also book an appointment for telemedicine consultation.
Ismail said that patients can renew their health card using the app.
For health professionals, the online licensing system known as Sheryan is available on the app.
The app allows users to personalise their dashboard according to the services they prefer to avail from the DHA.
The existing features of the app include round-the-clock patient access to medical records, laboratory reports and prescriptions.
Community members can search for details of all DHA Hospitals, Primary Healthcare Centres, Specialty and Medical Fitness Centres.
The app also provides a number of services for blood donation.
Through this app, donors can fill out a questionnaire and register online before proceeding to the centre for blood donation.
The application will allow the public to register their details to be contacted during emergencies and disasters to donate blood. This will support blood services and help develop a bigger database of donors to be able to cover hospitals’ needs. This is particularly important when the need arises for rare blood groups. The app also allows blood donors to locate the nearest donation centre or mobile blood donation unit.

About the Dubai Health Authority:
The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) was created, in June 2007, by Law 13 issued by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, with an expanded vision to include strategic oversight for the complete health sector in Dubai and enhance private sector engagement.
Prior to the establishment of the DHA, the Department of Health and Medical Services, which was established in 1973, was the functioning authority that almost exclusively focused on health service delivery.
In May 2018, H.H Sheikh Mohammed, issued Law No. (6) of 2018 of the DHA. The new Law further enables the DHA to achieve its objectives including regulating medical services in Dubai, enhancing competiveness and transparency, improving medical services and products based on international best practices and achieving the sector’s objectives according to approved strategic plans.
H.H Sheikh Mohammed also issued Decree No. 17 of 2018 establishing subsidiaries of the DHA: the Dubai Healthcare Corporation and Dubai Health Insurance Corporation to further enhance healthcare services in Dubai and enable DHA to fulfil its responsibilities and obligations.
Three new strategic sectors were also added as part of the decree; they include Strategy and Corporate Development, Health Regulation, and Shared Support Services.
In addition to overseeing the health sector for the Emirate of Dubai, the DHA also focuses on providing services through DHA healthcare facilities including Latifa, Dubai, Rashid and Hatta Hospitals, its 12 primary healthcare centers, 17 medical fitness centers and its 6 specialty centers.
