10 March 2009
Dubai, THE UAE, March 10, 2009 - D-Link Middle East, the end-to-end computer network solutions provider for consumer and business, today introduced its next generation chassis-based switch system offering advanced intelligence and reliable services at the aggregation or core layer of networks.

The chassis-based switch system, DES-7200 series joins D-Link's family of business solutions as a new member and is designed to function as a core device for enterprises and campuses, or as convergence device for Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs). This switch system is ideal for connecting server groups in data centers and is equipped with redundant or load sharing switch capabilities, hot swappable fan, and redundant power supplies to ensure zero network downtime for critical applications.

"D-Link DES-7200 is not just a L3 core switch with a highly flexible design," said Harrison Albert, Regional Sales Director at D-Link Middle East. "It is a chassis system that offers different services for each kind of network applications, such as VoIP gateways, network analyzers, or L2/L3 VPN routers, simply by inserting application modules such as PoE, IPFIX or MPLS engine without extra software cost," Harrison adds.

The DES-7200 series provides a future-proven, hardware-based IPv6 platform embedded with complete and powerful IPv6 functions, including IPv6 manageability, RIPng1, OSPFv3, BGP v4, PIMv61 and IPv6 QoS/ACL. The DES-7200 series provides network administrators with a convenient way to migrate to IPv6 when required.

The DES-7200 series offers comprehensive traffic control and QoS/CoS functions to optimize priority and bandwidth of each kind of traffic for time-sensitive applications such as IPTV and VoIP. Granular QoS ensures network traffic is classified and prioritized, mission-critical or time-sensitive applications will also no longer need to face any down-time or delay.

Additionally, The D-Link DES-7200 series offers extensive security and redundancy capabilities to eliminate crippling incidents occurring within the Intranet. Functions such as IP-MAC address binding, DHCP snooping, 802.1X and Guest VLAN, provide enterprises with various options for guarding against unauthorized access by users within the corporate Intranet. CPU Protection Policy (CPP) keeps malicious traffic out of CPU to increase the switch's reliability, serviceability and availability. Rapid Ether Ring Protection (RERP) minimizes network convergence time to mini-second level.

With the new DES-7200 series, and the D-Link xStack family of switches, D-Link now completes its total solutions for business class products.
