Cosmoplast, a member of Group Harwal, has announced that it is in the final phases of installing a brand new manufacturing facility with the latest technology in manufacturing of Pre-insulated pipes. Although Cosmoplast has been actively involved in Pre-insulated pipe manufacture for some time, the sizeable growth in District Cooling Systems requirements within the Gulf region has resulted in a major revision of corporate strategy within the company to significantly bring forward the setting up of a dedicated and independent pre-insulated pipe operation with the latest technology of continuous production
Cosmoplast is in the process of building its new pre-insulated pipe production facilities within its upcoming 450,000 square feet manufacturing plant in Dubai Investment Park site, which is due to open next year. However, to match market demand, the company is now re-organizing one of its existing large production sites to expand its pre-insulated pipe capabilities.
The new automated 120,000 square feet facility is now planned to be fully operational by the end of this year and is being redesigned to be capable of producing pre-insulated pipe sizes of up to 1,600mm in diameter and 24 meters in length. Another continuous line of production for pipes up to 4" in diameter will allow the company to supply rolls of pipes up to 350 meters in length.
Mr. Bedros Bambokian, General Manager of the Harwal Group said that "although it is well known that Cosmoplast is the largest thermoplastic pipe producer in the Gulf region, in the case of pre-insulated pipes, it has been decided to offer our customers with a selection of core pipe options such as Steel, GRP, ABS, Polyethylene or Polypropylene to provide our customers with total solutions within a short lead time working closely with regional steel pipe producers within the GCC." Mr. Bambokian also stated that "Cosmoplast will also combine its expertise in GRP and Thermoplastic pipe manufacturing along with other extensive insulating materials expertise already available from other companies within the Group Harwal to provide a highly cost efficient product for the end user."
