LG Regional SolarDOM Cooking Competition pays tribute
to rich diversity of culinary traditions in the region
Dubai, UAE, September 19, 2006: Amateur chefs in the UAE will be able to put their culinary skills to the test and battle against a strong line-up of culinary enthusiasts from the region, when the Dubai edition of the LG Regional SolarDOM Regional Cooking Competition kicks off tomorrow, September 20th, 2006.
The competition, which travels next to Saudi Arabia, Iran and South Africa, has been an eagerly awaited annual feature that has captured the imagination of cookery lovers in the region and will be held at the Al Bustan Rotana Hotel.
Competitors can participate in either individual or team categories, with a total of five winners from each category being selected to participate on the presentation date. In their quest for top honours, the participants will have to impress a highly experienced panel of food experts, including celebrity chef Osama El Sayed, who runs a popular cookery programme on Dubai TV, and who has authored several acclaimed books on regional cuisine.
The panel will decide on 10 winning recipes - 5 individual entries and 5 team entries. What's more, four out of the 10 winners - 3 individual entries and 1 team - will get a chance to prepare and share their recipes live at the special Grand Show to be held in Dubai on November 15th.
Under the eagle eyes of chef Osama El Sayed, the competitors will be evaluated on the basis of simplicity, taste, presentation style, and preparation time. "The response to the competition has been simply overwhelming," he said. "Dubai has a healthy community of cookery enthusiasts from different cultural backgrounds who have turned up enthusiastically for further acknowledgement of their culinary skills."
Winners of tomorrow's event stand to win SolarDOM products while the final competition will see cash prizes being handed out to the grand prize winners.
"The LG Regional SolarDOM Regional Cooking Competition is an excellent opportunity for us to demonstrate our strong relationship with the region's culinary community," explained Hamad Malik, Director for Marketing and Corporate Communications LG Electronics MEA operations. "At the same time, it is a tribute to the rich diversity of culinary traditions in the UAE, which has a well-established gastronomic culture."
The next-generation LG SolarDOM is the world's first counter-top light-wave oven to combine both conventional oven and microwave oven technologies. The oven outsmarts conventional cooking appliances in terms of design as well; and acknowledgment confirmed by the iF Design Award, one of the world's most pre-eminent design achievements.
