Dubai UAE: Canadian University of Dubai (CUD) has signed a Collaboration Agreement with Université Lumière Lyon 2 of France to initiate exchange programs and to promote academic and research interactions for industry-centric knowledge and skills enhancement. Canadian University of Dubai is a full subsidiary of Emirates Investment and Development Company PSC (Emivest).
The Collaboration Agreement was signed by Butti Saeed Al Ghandi, Chairman of Emivest and University Chairman of the CUD Board of Trustees, and Professor Claude Journès, President of Université Lumière Lyon 2. Among the attendees of the signing ceremony were Thierry Valentin, Vice-President International Affairs, Olivier Négrin, Dean of the Faculté de Droit et Science Politique, André Tiran, Dean of the School of Economics, Finance and Management, Professor Joseph Dichy, Professor Djamel Zighed, and several other distinguished faculty and administrative staff at Lyon 2 University, and Dr Karim Chelli, CUD Principal.
The agreement provides for the exchange of information and research findings in order to improve the quality of higher education and research in critical areas of specific relevance to the Middle East.
With a strong focus on finance and entrepreneurship, the specialized programs of Université Lumière Lyon 2 in the field of business development are highly acclaimed and in demand in Europe. CUD, as part of its vibrant exchange program, has ties with a number of European and North American universities which broaden and enhance an approach to education and training which is both innovative and flexible.
Commenting on the joint collaboration Al Ghandi said: "This tie-up is yet another milestone of achievement for CUD. The main goal of this cooperation is to facilitate exchange programs between faculty and students, initially for the disciplines currently offered at CUD such as Business, Hospitality, Finance, Human Resources, IT, Languages, Social Sciences and Humanities. Law and Political Science will be added at a later stage; additionally, partnerships with other institutions of learning at Université Lumière Lyon 2 will be considered for all those programs not currently offered by the university."
He added that the educational programs delivered under this agreement will offer students an opportunity to enhance their academic qualification and synergize theory and practice on a sustained basis. "This will provide students with the right exposure to the latest technological advancements in their respective fields, and enable them to appreciate key management concepts. Thus, our students will be better equipped to actively participate in organisational initiatives, improve their perspective, and provide meaningful insights."
Professor Claude Journes added: "The accord has been signed as a result of the relationship established since Mr Butti's first visit to our University in France. The management of both universities has the same vision and will collaborate for the benefit of all parties concerned. We believe the provision of effective human resource training in latest management practices and strategies, as well as application of innovative techniques, is vital in the evolvement of world class organizations. Thus through this accord we hope to meet the much needed requirement of skilled human resource development in the region."
