Manama, Bahrain - July 19, 2014: BIBF announces the results of the 2014 cohort of the Foundations of Banking Risk programme (FBR) who sat their exams at the end of June. 30 students attempted the exam and achieved an impressive 93 percent pass rate, with one achieving a perfect score.

FBR is an international foundation-level risk management programme which covers banking operations, governance and regulations. Candidates learn about the key types of risks banks bear, and how international regulations such as Basel can affect the management of these risks.

"As a recent Banking and Finance graduate of the University of Wales, FBR seemed like a required step in the pursuit of my finance career", said the class topper Maryam Al-Kaabi.

"FBR gave me a strong fundamental analysis of banking risk management. It is an interesting course regarding the basic risks banks encounter and the effects of the Basel Accord. The programme was very well facilitated, with a great overall environment. I truly enjoyed my learning experience."

The qualification is awarded by The Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP), USA whose core banking risk and regulation programme has been used by institutions on six continents. GARP is a non-profit organisation and the only globally recognised membership association for risk managers. GARP's goal is to help create a culture of risk awareness within organisations, from entry to board level.
