36.5% market share in Q408 dominating the short-throw segment ; ranks #1 in 14 countries including Japan

CITY, COUNTRY: BenQ Asia Pacific*1 reported today on fourth-quarter results for its projector business. These results showed in the Asia Pacific region (exclusive of China and Hong Kong), the Middle East and Africa, BenQ remained number two in the projector market and number one in short-throw segment with 36.5% market share; 14 countries clutched top spot including Japan, a highly demanding and competitive market. Overall, BenQ ranked second in the projector market and first in the DLP segment within this region through the year of 2008 according to the Futuresource Consulting. 

"The short-throw technology is the future, which does away with the need for large spaces that conventional projectors are restricted to. People can enjoy the same picture size only at half the projection distance, making them ideal for home movie viewing and gaming, as well as meeting room or classroom demos and presentations where space is limited--and that advantage has resulted rapid market growth," said Adrian Chang, President of BenQ Asia Pacific Corp. "In 2008, the global and Asia Pacific short-throw market grew 112% and 115% respectively (Q1'08 vs. Q4'08). We are confident and expecting to robust growth to continue in 2009."
