On the occasion of launching their joint package BayRoot® "your Doha route to Beirut" between Doha Bank and Bank of Beirut, a cocktail reception was held at the Marriott Hotel under the patronage of H.E. Hassan Sa'ad, the Lebanese Ambassador to Doha.
A large audience from leading members of the Lebanese community in Qatar attended the reception, invited by H.E. Sheikh Fahad Bin Mohammed Bin Jabor Al Thani, Chairman of Doha Bank and Mr. Salim Sfeir, Chairman and General Manager of Bank of Beirut.
The event covered a description of the new package and was attended by H.E. Sheikh Abdul Rahman Bin Mohammed Bin Jabor Al Thani, the Managing Director of Doha Bank in addition to top executives from both banks.
Mr. R. Seetharaman, CEO of Doha Bank welcomed the audience present and expressed that the cooperation between Doha Bank and Bank of Beirut has always been present and is the result of a formerly established partnership. He described the project BayRoot® as a joint package offering mutual financial and business services between Qatar and Lebanon.
He affirmed that this partnership is the natural translation of the brotherly ties connecting Qatar and Lebanon, especially with the existence of more than 20,000 Lebanese in Qatar. Doha Bank wishes to be the bank of choice for them whenever they think of conducting any business in Lebanon. And he called upon everyone to look into the details of this project and visit Doha Bank's branches to benefit from the BayRoot® facility in order to service their projects.
He further said, "What is happening now is part of Doha Bank's strategy which aims at providing its service to all communities within Qatar. This is performed by rendering services to them inside their own homelands. We intend to be your local bank in Qatar, so that whenever you think of making a project in Lebanon, you think of Doha Bank."
He concluded by saying, "Doha Bank and Bank of Beirut are looking forward to meet your banking and financial needs."
Mr. Saleem Sfeir, Chairman of Bank of Beirut, applauded the Qatari efforts to help Lebanon and the Lebanese people, and considered the visit of H.H. the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh/ Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, to Beirut during the July War an evidence of true consolidation, and an extremely kind initiative to reconstruct Bint Jbeil, Aynata, and other damaged worship houses in South Lebanon.
Mr. Sfeir said: "Qatar left a deep impression in the hearts of all the Lebanese people and united the peoples of the two countries. Beirut and Doha have become like one place for Qataris and Lebanese. It is worth mentioning that there are about 20,000 Lebanese Expatriates in Qatar working and contributing in the development of Qatar".
"The partnership between Doha Bank and Bank of Beirut, which we call BayRoot® represents their mutual goals and values. Bank of Beirut has now representatives at Doha Bank's Head Office in Qatar, with a view to serving the Lebanese Expatriates and Qataris who have businesses between Qatar and Lebanon. We kept our promise to H.E. Sheikh/ Fahad and renewed our branch in Aley, which has become a remarkable place characterized by its beautiful architecture, where Doha Bank will have a special location," he added.
He concluded by saying that "the remarkable relations between Bank of Beirut and Doha Bank encourage us to enhance banking cooperation, in line with our regional expansion strategy to serve our customers. Therefore, we offer our services rendered in Oman, UAE, Iraq, Nigeria, Britain, Cyprus, and Sudan, as well as our services rendered through our network of 43 branches spread all over Lebanon."
BayRoot® is a unique package offered to the Lebanese community living in Qatar and to Qatari nationals having ties between Qatar and Lebanon. It offers value-added services of opening dual accounts in both countries with the flexibility of managing account on-line with peace of mind. Furthermore, the package offers a unique housing loan facility for customers interested in buying land or property in Lebanon with financing up to 100%, over 15 years repayment period for amounts up to USD 1 Million. The on-line Transfer of Funds is another unique feature where money could be remitted on the same day at the cheapest cost through the e-Remittance service available and could be done wherever the customer is, anywhere in the world. Further details could be obtained from Doha Bank and Bank of Beirut representatives located at Doha Bank Head Office in Grand Hamad Avenue.
Finally, the event was concluded with an astounding singing of Fairouz songs by Lebanese singer Samar Kammouj Abou Zaid, accompanied by piano player Myriam Al Achkar, while playing attractive images of Lebanon. All attendees then lived the BayRoot® experience that ties them to their "roots" in Lebanon, while being in Qatar.
