Provides Connectivity to 122 Countries Globally

Batelco, Bahrain's leading integrated communications provider, offers IPVPN (Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network) services to more than 122 countries throughout the region, Indian Subcontinent, Far East, Europe and the US, through its Global MPLS (Multi Protocol Label Switching) network.

Batelco made communications history in 2004 when the Company became the first telco in the region to launch an IPVPN based service and offered flexible, secure and cost-effective networking solutions for Batelco's business customers.

MPLS based IP-VPN allows organisations to network their various sites over a single integrated IP-based network, enabling them to build a communications system that acts like an extension of their private corporate network with all the benefits of being run on Batelco's network infrastructure. The result is a fast and efficient means of making scattered places seem like local sites, from workers' homes and domestic branch offices to international locations and company headquarters. Batelco's MPLS based IP-VPN interconnects these various sites to create a singe company-wide communications network that provides high quality and top class services to meet different networking requirements, including voice, data, video conferencing, real-time applications and other services.

Batelco IPVPN network reaches more than 122 countries world-wide through a full MPLS service from UK based C&W (Cable & Wireless). Batelco's IPVPN network is connected to C&W through two diversified submarine cable systems to offer full diversification of the network.

Batelco has a full native MPLS service with Qualitynet in Kuwait, established in May of 2006 and with TIS (Telecom Italia Sparkle) since December 2006.

"By interconnecting with TIS, Batelco benefits from international opportunities including gaining strong reach in Europe, the Mediterranean and South America," said Batelco Corporate Affairs General Manager Ahmed Al Janahi.

In June 2006 Batelco and Etisalat signed an agreement to provide their customers with MPLS services in the region and around the globe.

"Batelco and leading partners such as TI, C&W and Etisalat deliver significant global reach for MENA customers."

Several countries in the Middle East region including Kuwait, Jordan and Egypt are part of Batelco's owned IPVPN/MPLS network."

"Batelco's MPLS Network strategy is to provide customers with a full suite of integrated communications services that deliver the best combination of performance, security and reach and allow a clear migration path from traditional to IP networks," added Mr. Al Janahi.
