Barclays Capital, the investment banking division of Barclays Bank PLC, is pleased to announce the following appointments:
Nicholas Hegarty joins as Managing Director and head of Barclays Capital in the Middle East region, with specific responsibility for Investment Banking (IBD) in the Middle East and North Africa. Hegarty joins Barclays Capital from ABN Amro, where he has spent the last 14 years in a variety of roles, most recently as Head of Debt Markets (DCM) Origination in Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa. Hegarty will be located in Dubai and will report to Cyrus Ardalan, Vice Chairman, Barclays Capital.
Faisal Mikou joins as a Director in IBD also based in Dubai. Mikou had been at ABN Amro for the past seven years where he held the position of Head of Debt Markets for the Gulf region. Mikou will be responsible for IBD coverage of a number of clients in the region and will report to Nicholas Hegarty.
Fethi Kirdar joins as a Manager with responsibility for IBD coverage support. Kirdar most recently was a vice president at Estithmaar Ventures TMT Fund. His previous assignments have included the Dubai Investment Office and Deutsche Bank. Kirdar will report to Nicholas Hegarty.
Wissam Farah joins as Director and head of a new London-based Middle East team which will combine Barclays Capital’s sales and DCM activities in the region. Farah joins Barclays Capital from Deutsche Bank where he has spent the past six years in a variety of Middle East coverage roles. Farah will report to Mark Kibblewhite, Head of Corporate Risk Management & Capital Markets Europe and Steve Hale, Head of Rates Sales for UK/Europe.
“The Middle East is an important region for Barclays Capital. These hires will ensure that Barclays Capital has the right resources committed to the region and will enable the firm to provide focused and coordinated financing and risk management solutions for its clients” said Cyrus Ardalan.
