Bank of America Merrill Lynch today announced that Bob Elfring and Diego De Giorgi have been appointed co-heads of Global Corporate and Investment Banking (GCIB) for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

In their new roles, which are subject to the usual regulatory approvals, Bob and Diego will partner closely together to drive the growth of the bank's corporate and investment banking franchise. Both will be based in London, with Bob relocating shortly and Diego joining in January. They will report to Christian Meissner, head of Global Corporate & Investment Banking and Alex Wilmot-Sitwell, president of Europe and Emerging Markets (ex-Asia), who will be joining the firm in the coming months as previously communicated.

Bob has 28 years experience in Investment Banking. He joined the firm in 2011 as head of Investment Banking for Benelux and Northern Europe. Prior to this he was head of Investment Banking for Northern Europe, including Benelux and Scandinavia, at Credit Suisse, whom he joined in 2009. 

Diego joins the bank from Goldman Sachs where he was a Partner and Chief Operating Officer of the Investment Banking Division, while located in New York. He has almost 20 years experience in European Investment Banking, covering financial institutions and Southern European clients in particular, having joined Goldman Sachs in 1994. He was previously co-head of the European Financial Institutions Group, and prior to this co-head of European Equity Capital Markets.
