Manama, Bahrain: Bahrain Investment Wharf (BIW) signed a contract with the international consultant, Dar Al-Handasah Consultants - Shair and Partners on October 16, assigning the supervision for the dredging and land reclamation works. The contract was signed between Mr. Laith Al-Memar, the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of BIW, and Mr. Bassam Shakhshir, the Director of Operations of Dar Al-Handasah Consultants, in the presence of Mr. Muhannad Al-Durrah, the CEO of BIW, Mr. Yazan Haddad, the Project Director of BIW,  Mr. Mohamed Khalil, Projects Manager (Tameer) and Mr. Khaldoun Hinedi, the Area Manager for Dar Al-Handasah Consultants.

On signing the Contract, Mr. Al-Memar stated, "For the rapid development of this project, we are keen on assigning highly professional organizations that can meet the international quality standards that we maintain." Mr. Al-Memar also added that BIW has started to receive applications for land reservations from various industries, factories and commercial properties assuring the good progress of the project.

Dar Al-Handasah is a leading international consultancy specializing in marine and port engineering amongst other specialties. It is ranked as one of the world's top international consultants with offices located in 79 countries including Bahrain. Dar Al-Handasah Consultants will supervise the dredging, land reclamation and revetment works for the Bahrain Investment Wharf Project, and BIW has put its trust in their efforts and expertise to deliver as per the state of the art requirements.

Mr. Bassam Shakhshir said, "With half a century of global experience in all type of major large-scale developments we have skills for developing, adapting and transferring latest high-tech planning, engineering and design techniques to indigenous and existing conditions in emerging environments. Finally Mr. Al-Memar emphasized on the good cooperation and support to the BIW project by the Ministry of Industry & Commerce through his Excellency the Minister, Undersecretary, Assistant Undersecretary and the Industrial Areas Directorate.
