Contribution is in Line with Year of Giving Initiative

Dubai-UAE: 16 February, 2017 – Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (AMAF) has donated more than AED2.5 million from the endowment of the late Emirati philanthropist Ahmed Baghlaf to several charity organizations that take care of the underprivileged segments of society, including widows, orphans, and the elderly. The donations are in line with the UAE Year of Giving and the Foundation’s objectives to enhance the spirit of social solidarity.

AMAF presented separate cheques of AED350,000 each to Dar Al Ber Society in Dubai, Beit Al Khair Society in Dubai, Sharjah Charity International, Sharjah Charity House, Human Appeal International in Ajman, Al Rahmah for Charity in Ras Al-Khaimah, and Al Ihsan Charity Association in Ajman. Furthermore, the Foundation donated AED 75,553 to cover the cost of some kidney treatment at the International Modern Hospital.

His Excellency Tayeb Al-Rais, Secretary General of AMAF, said: “As part of our core priority to improve the lives of less privileged social segments, AMAF is pleased to collaborate with charity and humanitarian organizations in the UAE. Through such efforts, we aim to support the initiatives of our wise leadership in ensuring the success of the UAE’s Year of Giving.”

He added: “We prioritize certain social segments in accordance with the directions of the donors that make the endowments. We also look to achieve the mandates of our five endowment banks through our financial and in-kind donations.”

Throughout 2016, AMAF extended its support to many religious, healthcare, social, and humanitarian organizations and projects in the UAE and abroad. To sustain such support, AMAF leverages private endowments under its management, such as the one donated by the late Ahmed Baghlaf.
