The Scheme allows Large Enterprises to acquire industrial machinery and technology to improve performance and expand capacity

Tamkeen -Bahrain, Monday, Nov 5th 2012 - Awal Gulf Manufacturing Company, a leading refrigeration and air conditioning equipment manufacturer, has received technical back up from Tamkeen through the "Large Enterprise Support Scheme".
The Scheme which is specifically designed to back up large Bahrain-based enterprises has been recently introduced by Tamkeen to provide co-financing support to large Bahraini business enterprises to help them acquire the latest industrial machinery and technology to accelerate growth, expand, diversify operations and achieve further sustainability. Under this scheme, Tamkeen's contribution will be 50%, up to a maximum of BD 150,000, of the cost of the machinery and related costs.
Enterprises seeking to benefit from the Scheme must have an active Commercial Registration Certificate, earn annual revenue equal to or more than BD 5 million and must be able to provide audited financial statements. Furthermore, the enterprise should commit to hire minimum two Bahrainis or increase the wage of at least 2 existing Bahraini employees by at least BD50 per month. Applications will be evaluated and approved by Tamkeen's Enterprise Development Support team.
Tamkeen VP for Enterprise and Human Capital Development Dr. Ahmed Abdulghani Al-Shaikh said Business firms have received another incentive from Tamkeen with the introduction of "The Large Enterprise Support Scheme". The Scheme is a Tamkeen's strategic initiative that has been developed specifically to support large business Enterprises across all sectors to uplift their capabilities and boost performance".
Awal Gulf Manufacturing co , which specialises in the manufacturing of air conditioners and other electrical equipment, received Tamkeen's support to purchase a number of Machinery and equipment to increase production capacity and enhance on-site industrial performance.

Tamkeen had announced earlier this year that it has allocated a total of BD104 million dedicated to human capital development and enterprise support of the private sector. Around BD 51 million have been allocated to the various enterprise support programmes for the year 2012.
Tamkeen's Enterprise Development Support Programme includes: the Business Development Scheme (Istishara) to assist in the strategic planning and determining vision and goals of the organisation, the Technical Assistance Scheme (Techania) to provide support for the purchase of latest enterprise-related tools and equipment, the Quality Management Systems Scheme (Jawda) to assist in the design and application of world-class quality standards, the Growth Assistance Scheme (Tarweej) to support enterprises' participation in local and international events and exhibitions, and the Marketing Assistance Scheme (Tasweeq) to provide support in the design and implementation of effective marketing and communications strategies, in addition to the Large Enterprises Support Scheme which allows Large Enterprises to acquire industrial machinery and technology.

About Tamkeen
Tamkeen was established in August 2006 as part of Bahrain's national reform initiatives and Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, and is tasked with developing Bahrain's private sector and positioning it as the key driver of economic development.

These programmes range from training aimed at developing human capital - whether students, employees, employers, or job seekers - to match acquired skills to market requirements, and other programmes which enhance the productivity of individuals through promoting awareness of successful practices in the private sector. For enterprises, Tamkeen provides professional consulting services to raise their performance, and facilitates access to financing to bridge the enterprise financing gap. In addition, Tamkeen is also leading other national initiatives which enhance investments in Bahrain.
Tamkeen's funds come from 50% of the fees collected from the Labour Market Regulatory Authority.
