The aviation spares and repair business has proven to be a lucrative and recession proof venture for a Dubai Airport Freezone based asscom  Middle East, which is certified by Airbus and holds GCAA and EASA approvals.

Peter Wiggers, Managing Director of asscomsaid, "Repair and Maintenance is only slightly affected by the economic downturn as aircraft equipment and systems require regular maintenance."

To cope with the burgeoning business Mr. Wiggers said future expansion plans would include increase in the number of staff and size of the premises (Office, Storage and Repair Facilities) and provision of additional aviation after-sales-services including those of non avionic repair services asscom is a full service provider, offers a large variety of Customer Support Services to aviation component and system suppliers on a worldwide basis with service centres in Far East and USA besides the Dubai service centre. All aspects of OEM product support needs, from parts distribution and 24/7 emergncy spare parts supply to warranty and commercial repairs are handled.

Apart from the repair facility the asscom office includes warehouse facilities for the storage of aviation and systems manufacturers' spare parts.

The company is a subsidiary of the Hamburg, Germany based asscom aeronautic support services GmbH with worldwide turnover of approximately AED 19 million.

The service centre is GCAA and EASA certified and has started its operation on June 1st, 2009. All aspects of OEM product support needs, from parts distribution and 24/7 emergency spare parts supply to warranty and commercial repairs are handled.

Mr. Wiggers added, "With our new service station we are able to provide outstanding customer support services on-site, to airline customers and OEMs in the regions Middle East, Africa and India and Australia.
