AUD wins in two categories of the four-category design competition
Dubai, March 5, 2006 - Students of the American University in Dubai (AUD) won two out of four awards at a Design Competition held at the International Interior Design and Furniture Show 2006 (IFEX), one of the most popular Interior Design Shows organized in the Middle East.
Dania Bazzy, External Affairs Director, AUD said: "AUD is very proud to see its students shine at IFEX. Last year AUD students bagged the majority of the IFEX awards. The fact that this year AUD students won two categories of the competition proves, yet again, the professionalism of the Interior Design Department and its ability to deliver a high quality education."
In addition to participating in the competition, AUD 's Interior Design Department held stands at the exhibition, which exhibited the students' work, and was a testimonial to the high quality of the design talent of AUD students. The Design competition aims to encourage youngsters with a flair for their art to strive towards a higher creative and professional level
This year four categories were featured in the competition, out of which AUD was declared the winner in two categories. Ms. Elnaz Ghaffari won the award in the Classic Furniture category and Ms. Sahar Arbabioon won the award for the Architecture Category. AUD also had three worthy runners-up; Ms. Dina Abu al-Jadayel and Ms. Noora Awhan for Classic and Modern Furniture Categories respectively, while Kareem El-Dasher was runner-up for the Interior Design Award.
IFEX is a show that attracts high profile visitors from around the world. This year the exhibition showcased some of the most high end & exclusive interiors & furniture products and invited all Architecture and Interior Design schools in the UAE to participate.

The American University in Dubai is a private, non-sectarian institution of higher learning founded in 1995. Fall 2005, enrolment is 2,356 students representing eighty nationalities.
AUD offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees. A four-year Bachelor's degree is offered in Business Administration (BBA), Visual Communication (BFA), Interior Design (BFA) and Information Technology (BIT).
The AUD School of Engineering, established in 2001 through collaboration with the Georgia Institute of Technology, offers the Bachelor's of Science (BS) degree in Civil, Computer and Electrical Engineering.
The Master of Business Administration (MBA) is offered as a generalist degree, with the option to specialize in either Marketing or Finance.
Through its Center for English Proficiency, the University also conducts Intensive and Academic English programs designed to develop university-level English language skills.
The University's faculty possesses outstanding academic credentials, and the vast majority are or have been practicing professionals of note. AUD's multi-complex facility has been conceived with the objective of supporting the University's programs (both academic and extra-curricular) to an American standard. The campus surroundings include Dubai Internet City and Media City. This reflects HH General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum's vision for Dubai as the technological hub of the Middle East, together with the University's role as a technological reference point.
