Royal Air Maroc experienced sustained growth in regularly scheduled flights from November to September 2005*.

The national flag carrier and its tourist-oriented subsidiary, Atlas Blue, conveyed 4 104 126 passengers by the end of September 2005, i.e. a thrust forward of + 21% compared to the same period in 2004.

Trends in Royal Air Maroc traffic
On its regular lines Royal Air Maroc conveyed 3 252 490 passengers from November to September 2005, i.e. a rise of +19% compared to the same period in 2004. Air traffic departing Casablanca saw a jump of + 24% during the same period.

For just September 2005, Royal Air Maroc reported passenger traffic of 333 540 travellers, i.e. up by + 16% vs. September 2005.

Mr. Hassan HIHI, Deputy General Sales Manager of Royal Air Maroc points out that " this rise in regularly scheduled traffic concerns tourist issuing markets as well as countries where Moroccans reside and for which increases from +7% to +71 % were registered from November to September 2005 ". The sharpest rises were:

  • France : + 14%

  • Italy : + 12%

  • The Netherlands : + 14% 

  • Spain : + 13% 

  • Maghreb countries : + 26%

  • North America : + 17 %

  • Middle East : + 19%

  • Domestic Moroccan network : + 18%

Africa reported traffic up by +71%. Mr. HIHI stated that " Royal Air Maroc's strategy for the continent of Africa aims at consolidation of the Casablanca Hub as an internaitonal platform for flights from West Africa to Europe, the Middle East and North America "

Moreover, Mr. HIHI added that " since 2004, Royal Air Maroc has opened 16 nouvelles flights to Europe and Africa departing Casablanca ".

Strengthening of domestic and international flight frequencies in the framework of the Summer 2005 program, the launch of new flight and the beginning of the OMRA operation have all contributed to the improvement in regularly-scheduled air traffic.

Atlas Blue, Royal Air Maroc's tourist-oriented subsidiary, reported 732 502 passengers at the end of September 2005.

If this trend continues to the end of the fiscal year (30 October 2005), the Royal Air Maroc Group will report record traffic of 4 500 000 passengers (Royal Air Maroc + Atlas Blue), i.e. a leap forward of + 21% compared to fiscal 2004.

Royal Air Maroc flies to more than 60 destinations in some thirty countries in Europe, Africa, North America and the Middle East. It ensures over 44,000 flights per year.
