As part of numerous letters of gratitude received from various organizations affirming its positive role towards the Iraqi local community, Mr. Faruk Mustafa Rasool, Chairman of Asiacell - the first and largest private Iraqi telecommunications company and the only mobile telecom company providing coverage for all of Iraq - received a letter of gratitude from Dr. Johannes Brongers, Rector of the American University of Iraq - Sulaimani (AUI_S) last May. The letter recognizes Asiacell's financial and moral contributions to the university as part of the company's efforts to help Iraq and the region's youth obtain higher education degrees.
In the letter, Dr. Brongers affirmed the important role that Asiacell has played in providing youth with various opportunities to build a better future for themselves. He also explained that the support that was extended to the university will greatly contribute to the accomplishment of its mission to develop the skills and talents of youth, which will ultimately enable them to participate in the rebuilding process of Iraq.
Dr. Brongers also thanked Asiacell for the trust it has placed in the AUI_S, indicating that Asiacell's support will allow the university to take many steps towards becoming one of the best universities in both Iraq and the region.
Commenting on this gesture, Dr. Diar Ahmed, CEO of Asiacell, affirmed the company's dedication to supporting education in general and higher education in particular, which he described as an instrumental factor in creating an intellectual and cultured future generation that is able to positively contribute to Iraq's socioeconomic development. He went on to say that Asiacell will continue to play a positive role in Iraqi society and particularly youth, who are the foundation for rebuilding Iraq. Dr. Ahmed stated that Asiacell's efforts are part of the company's belief in the importance of creating an educational environment that nurtures talents and abilities.
