27 January 2014 (Dubai, United Arab Emirates)

The American Hospital Dubai has signed a direct-settlement agreement with Aetna, a key healthcare third-party administrator (TPA) in the UAE. The agreement, which took effect 1 January will enable more of Aetna's cardholders to have easy access to its inpatient and outpatient services, without having to worry about paying in advance.

The new agreement adds members of the popular Aetna-administered plan, Healthy Aessentials - Pearl to the hospital's direct-settlement arrangement with the TPA. Under an earlier agreement, treatments for Aetna cardholders with the International Healthcare Plan and Healthy Aessentials - Gold already have been billed directly to Aetna.

Commenting on the new agreement, Mr David Farrick, Acting Chief Executive Officer at the American Hospital Dubai, said, "We are delighted to sign this new agreement and extend our broader services to thousands of additional Aetna healthcare cardholders in the UAE. Creating access to world-class healthcare services has been part of our mission since we opened in 1996. and TPA partners play an essential role in this process for the benefit of the community we serve."

Mr Hisham Radwan, Aetna's General Manager of the Middle East and Africa, said, "As a major provider of healthcare coverage and administration for expatriates, we understand the importance of having high-quality medical facilities in our network of providers.  We are pleased to offer our cardholders in the UAE easy access to the American Hospital Dubai and seamless payment for the healthcare services they use."

The American Hospital Dubai, the first hospital in the Middle East to be accredited by the Joint Commission International, offers a wide range of primary and specialty healthcare services, from cardiology and maternity packages to highly specialized regional centers such as the Diabetes Center, Cochlear Center, The Heart Center, Neuroscience Center and the recently enhanced Orthopedics and Total Joint Reconstruction Clinic for adults and children.
