23 July 2012 (Dubai, United Arab Emirates): The American Hospital Dubai has appointed Dr Parameswaran Sanathana Bhattathiri FRCS (Neuro. Surg. England), Mch (Neurosurgery) as a Neurosurgeon at the Hospital's Neuroscience Center of Excellence. Dr Bhattathiri joins a team of four consultants at the center and more than 80 board certified physicians at the Hospital. The Center provides a range of diagnostic services and management of neurological disorders, from migraines to epilepsy and stroke, as well as spinal and cranial surgery and functional neurosurgery.
Dr Parameswaran Sanathana Bhattathiri, a British national, undertook his basic medical and post-graduate surgical training in Kerala, India; followed by specialist education in Neurosurgery at Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences & Technology in India, obtaining his Magister Chirurgiae (MCh Neurosurgery). He had further training in UK where he attained FRCS (Neuro.Surg.) from The Royal College of Surgeons of England, London and was entered into GMC Specialist Register following CCST. Dr Bhattathiri joined the Hospital from the UK where he was Consultant Neurosurgeon at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle upon Tyne; U.K. Prior to this, he was Assistant Professor in Neurosurgery at Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical sciences and Technology, Trivandrum, Kerala, India, and held training posts in both the UK and India.
Dr Bhattathiri has published and lectured widely on his specialist area, especially in Neuro-Oncology. He has worked on a number of Committees as a member or in an advisory capacity, including as a Member CNS cancer group of North of England Cancer Network; Head Injury lead Clinician for Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Northern Trauma Network of England; and Member, National Executive Committee Trauma And Research Network, UK. He holds a number of Professional memberships including Society of British Neurological Surgeons; British Neurotrauma Group; British Neuro Oncology Society; British Neurosurgical Research Group; Royal College of Surgeons (England); Indian Medical Association; Trivandrum Neuro-Club; Neurological Society of India.
