Launch of state of the art facility by Mr Hilal Mubarak AlMansoori, President of AlMansoori Specialized Engineering

New Ultrasound System Increases Accuracy and Reduces Cost of Quality Control Inspections

Abu Dhabi -  AlMansoori Specialized Engineering, a leading oilfield supplies and services company in the UAE, today announces the launch of their purpose build Tubular Inspection Services (TIS) Headquarters at the group's Mussafah facilities, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The official ribbon cutting was conducted by Mr Hilal Mubarak AlMansoori, President of AlMansoori Specialized Engineering; Nabil Alalawi, Managing Director of AlMansoori Specialized Engineering; and guests from Kuwait, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Austria.

The new TIS headquarters offers the Middle East one of the first purpose built facilities with over 7,000 square foot of testing floor space.  The AlMansoori TIS facilities also include managerial offices, state-of-the-art training suites and industry specific climate controlled inspection bays.

Mr. Nabil Alalawi, Managing Director of AlMansoori Specialized Engineering commented, "AlMansoori has been offering first class tubular and industrial testing since 1982.  With clients across the region, this new facility provides the ability for us to train our staff to the highest levels and service our customers either at the facility or remotely on-site to the latest technology."

The AlMansoori TIS facilities include visual inspection processes, tubular ultrasonic systems, ultra violet (florescent light) testing units, Eddy Current, Hot Spot Inspection (for non magnetic collars), Tubular Packaging Systems and state of the art internal camera technology.  At the launch, AlMansoori TIS showcased their newest technology - the portable ultrasonic inspection system that uses EMAT (Electro-Magnetic Acoustic Transduction) sensors and electronics.

The portable ultrasonic inspection system performs a full circumferential ultrasonic inspection on tubular material, from a single contact point, without couplant. The system performs 100% flaw detection reliably and repeatably. Detectable defects include cracks, pits, corrosion, laminations, and other discontinuities, regardless of their orientation or location within the material. Pipe sizes from 2" thru 16" can be examined. Pipe surfaces can be rough, dirty, or painted with little effect on sensitivity of the procedure. The portable ultrasonic inspection system is superior to an electromagnetic inspection system in terms of its ability to detect internal defects and to inspect alloy materials.

Launched in 1982, AlMansoori Tubular Inspection Services (TIS) already operated in the UAE, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Yemen and Iran.  Clients include Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO), Abu Dhabi Marine Areas Operating Company (ADMA-OPCO), Abu Dhabi Oil Company (ADOC), Arabian Oil Company (AOC), Baker Hughes Inteq, BP, British Gas, Elf Aquitaine, Halliburton, Japan Drilling Company (JDC), Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), National Drilling Company (NDC), RasGas, Saudi ARAMCO, Schlumberger, Weatherford and Zakum Development Company (ZADCO).
