Abu Dhabi, UAE - Sulzer Pumps Finance Director (EMEA) Mr Garth Bradwell (left) and Ali & Sons Group Managing Director Mr Shamis Al Dhaheri shake hands on signing a Memorandum of Understanding between Sulzer Pumps of Switzerland and Ali & Sons Oilfield Supplies & Services (ASOS) which paves the way for construction of a state-of-the-art service facility in Abu Dhabi. At right is ASOS Director Mr Zahi Haju.
Also attending the ceremony were ASOS Area Manager, Mr Ramzi Abulkhair; ASOS Finance Manager, Mr Kannan Purayamkumarath and Mr Andrew Ferrie, Middle East General Manager for Sulzer Pumps.
The new facility will comprise a large fully equipped air-conditioned workshop with an adjoining multi-storey office complex and provide local support for Sulzer products installed throughout the Middle East.
The workshop will have the capacity to handle the largest centrifugal pumps in the Gulf while the fully-equipped machine shop will include full horizontal and vertical machining capability together with dynamic balancing.
"Any downtime costs big money in the oil industry, particularly in pumping, but the new facility will be able to provide the swiftest level of support possible," Mr Al Dhaheri says.
The workshop facility will be operational by October 2007 with the office buildings completed before the end of this year.
