Sharjah - Sharjah Holding PJSC (Sharjah Holding), a strategic partnership between the government of Sharjah and Majid Al Futtaim Properties, today announced it has awarded the first stage of the construction contract for the new Al Narjis neighbourhood in Al Zahia, the first residential gated community in Sharjah, to Al Qabdah Building Contracting.
H. E. Walid Al Sayegh, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Sharjah Holding, said: "It is an exciting time for Sharjah Holding as we move forward with the construction of Al Narjis, the second neighbourhood in Al Zahia. We look forward to beginning work in the coming months and seeing our thriving community continue to expand and evolve."
Al Zahia is a landmark development in Sharjah, combining international standards of living with the emirate's deep-rooted family, community and cultural values. The development plan of the
Al Narjis neighbourhood includes a variety of three and four bedroom townhouses, and five bedroom villas. It also features a new neighbourhood park, which will include adventure play equipment for children of all ages, fitness stations and multi-functional open spaces. All homes will benefit from close proximity to the community hub, comprising convenience retail and public facilities. The construction work of Al Narjis neighbourhood will start in May 2016.

Located between Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and University City Road, Al Zahia is in close proximity to major landmarks in Sharjah including Sharjah University City,
Sharjah International Airport and Sharjah Airport International Free Zone. It also offers links to the major roads to Dubai and the northern Emirates. The development will take place in several stages, eventually becoming home to approximately 12,000 residents. With an expected completion date of 2022, the project will occupy 1,000,000 square meters, the equivalent of 140 football pitches. Al Zahia is expected to contribute AED 5.5 billion to Sharjah's economy upon completion.
