Abu Dhabi: One of the UAE’s oldest and prominent sports clubs -- Al Wahda Sports & Cultural Club -- has chosen VPS Healthcare as its official healthcare partner. This is the first time; the sporting entity has chosen a private medical group as its exclusive care provider.

Al Wahda Club has about 1000 sportspersons playing and training various sport under them, mainly football, volleyball, handball, jiu-jitsu, and fencing. Being the healthcare partner, VPS Healthcare is responsible to meet all the medical requirements of the athletes at the Club. Al Wahda Sports & Cultural Club is one of the biggest sports clubs in the UAE and one of the most famous inside and outside the country; were the club represented the UAE in several international occasions such as the FIFA Club World Cup besides achieving the first places in the international Jiu-Jitsu Competitions.

With the nation successfully flattening the COVID curve, games and sports events are likely to resume in the coming months. Players of Al Wahda FC, the football wing of Al Wahda Club, has resumed regular practice and is prepping up for league tournaments beginning this September. The partnership of the sporting club with VPS Healthcare is significant in this regard.

As per the agreement, medical services for athletes will be provided by expert sports medicine specialists at Burjeel Hospital, the premium unit of VPS Healthcare. The medical group is supposed to provide a complete and comprehensive medical solution for the players: pre-competition medical assessment, treatment for injured players, paramedic support for the teams at sporting sites, and inpatient treatment for players and team members at VPS facilities.
