Hamdan bin Mohammed Orders Establishing of Dubai Taxi Agency within the RTA Setup
Roads & Transport Authority: HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Executive Council in the Emirate of Dubai, issued a decision establishing Dubai Taxi Agency as part of the organizational setup of Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), with a capital amounting to one hundred million dirham and engaged in transporting passengers by mini vehicles "taxis" within and from the emirate of Dubai, in addition to leasing of small vehicles.
According to the Decision, the Agency may own and lease vehicles & movable properties necessary for conducting its business. The Agency may also own, lease and establish workshops necessary for maintaining and repairing private transportation vehicles within the Agency. It may also purchase necessary equipment, machinery, tools and spare parts, in addition to establishing petrol stations necessary for refueling the vehicles of the Agency and making cooperation agreements with other parties in the fields related to the business and activities of the Agency.
The decision provided that the Board of Directors of the RTA will oversee the overall business and activities of the Agency, which include formulating the general policy, plans and projects of the Agency along with endorsing the annual budget proposal, following-up implementation of the approved annual work plans, approving the final accounts, obtaining loans from outside bodies and issuing regulatory systems to streamline & supervise administrative, financial & technical aspects of the Agency. The Board will also appoint auditors, make contracts with other parties and appoint representatives therein.
H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and CEO of the RTA issued an administrative decision appointing engineer Abdul Aziz Malik as the CEO of Dubai Taxi Agency.
The decision defined the tasks of the CEO in implementing the general policy of the Agency, preparing & referring the annual budget to the Board of Directors for endorsement, preparing the implementing the plans of the Agency and submitting them to the Board for approval, supervising the business and employees of the Agency and exercising any powers authorized by the Board.
The Board of Directors of the RTA, chaired by H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, approved the organizational chart and management structure of Dubai Taxi Agency. Beside the Office of the CEO, the setup of the Agency included two departments; Resources & Corporate Support, and Fleet Affairs. Two sections were established; Quality, Health, Safety and Environment, and Booking & Distribution.
