Abu Dhabi - Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), a leading financial institution, has received the 2017 award for ‘Best Online Banking Services’ from The Banker Middle East magazine for its research-led approach to digital innovation and e-banking services.
ADIB customers, which grew in number by 42,000 last year to total over 920,000, now conduct 90 percent of their transactions through the bank’s digital channels, which include a new internet banking platform, ATMs and mobile app.
“ADIB has put a strong emphasis on ensuring that our banking offering responds to customers’ demand, so our digital investment has been shaped by the extensive research we have carried out in the market,” said Philip King, ADIB’s head of retail. “People want immediate access to products and services, and our digital solutions provide that. They also value the human touch, because that is how trust is built, so ADIB’s approach to innovation varies across the segments we serve.”
ADIB has made significant progress in introducing a series of digital banking initiatives as part of its commitment to offer customers convenient and innovative banking solutions that match their needs and lifestyles. ADIB was the first bank in the region to partner with IBM to launch a digital studio as an incubator to develop new innovative solutions.
ADIB’s mobile app has been immensely popular among its customers, with enrolments increasing by 20 percent in 2016. The volume of transactions through the app increased by over 50 percent during the year, to over one million transactions per month.
Meanwhile, the bank has launched new digital branches, called ADIB Express, which combine a high level of digital services, coupled with attentive personal services when required. The paper-less branch has brought the time to open an account down under 30 minutes and provides instant access to cheque books and debit cards.
Earlier this year, ADIB revamped its online banking platform which has been designed to provide customers with simpler and more convenient banking services. Through the online platform, customers enjoy a simple, easy- to- use website that allow them to easily manage their portfolio as well as carry out transactions and normal banking activities on the go
In addition to the Banker Middle East award, ADIB has recently received numerous awards including the “Best Overall Bank in Customer Experience in the UAE” by Ethos consultancy for the sixth year, “Best Overall Call Centre” in the UAE for the third year, “Excellence in Digital Banking” from Lafferty Global Awards, and the “Global Finance Innovation Award”.
