When words are not enough to express love, one can rely on the most universal of symbols: the heart. For St Valentine's Day 2008, Van Cleef & Arpels has transformed it into a mother-of-pearl and pink gold pendant.
A special edition of the Lucky Alhambra collection for all those who are in love in the world.
A special edition of Lucky Alhambra
Today, for the first time, it's pink gold that highlights a heart-shaped motif. The pendant with its delicate pearly contour and attached to a fine chain is dedicated to women in love. Van Cleef & Arpels has chosen white mother-of-pearl: a symbol of purity, harmony and innocence. Its perfect, shimmering surface that reflects the light evokes both mystery and sweetness. There is even a legend that links mother-of-pearl and the power of immortality...very appropriate for a jewel made to accompany declarations of love and secure promises.
Once upon a time there was Alhambra...
Alhambra was created by Van Cleef & Arpels in 1968, a long necklace representing a stylised four-leaf clover with a contour of yellow gold pearls. Since then, the House regularly pays homage to this pure shape, using it to create a multitude of jewels and watches, and recently making it the star of three new lines: Byzantine, highlighting the motif in its purest essence, and Magic and Lucky, using new shapes - the butterfly, the leaf, the star...- to take their place as lucky charms. More recently, the new Sweet Alhambra line features motifs such as butterflies, hearts, clovers in miniature. Today Alhambra is truly a best-seller.
