Dubai, UAE: The 2012 SPE Middle East Health, Safety, Security and Environment Conference and Exhibition (MEHSSE) received 226 paper proposals, from 73 companies, representing 30 countries this year.
After the selection meeting, held at the beginning of this month, the MEHSSE committee, chaired by Ali Al Jarwan of ADMA-OPCO and co-chaired by Omar Salem Al-Shamlan of ADMA-OPCO, selected 121 technical papers to be presented during the event, which will take place
2-4 April 2012 at the Beach Rotana Hotel in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Over 55% of the papers selected met all of the selection criteria set by SPE to ensure the technical quality of the papers content.
Waleed Refaay, Managing Director SPE Middle East, North Africa, and India said: "SPE events are renowned for the unmatched quality of their technical programmes and this is due to the criteria on which the submitted papers are rated. For a paper to be accepted by the programme committee it has to be technically sound; it has to discuss a new technology, knowledge, or experience, it should be a new paper that has not been published previously and be non commercial in nature."
Refaay added: "For MEHSSE, I would like to personally emphasise on the efforts of the committee and thank them for their firm approach in selecting the papers submitted, which in turn ensures the distinctiveness of the programme for the 2012 edition of this event and also sets a high benchmark for papers presented in the upcoming edition of the event."
Over the years, MEHSSE has seen a phenomenal interest from drilling, reservoir and HSE professionals, HSE engineering staff and management involved in safety procedures and environmental regulation compliance, in addition to HSE consultants and suppliers. This edition of MEHSSE is set to attract an even broader scope of oil and gas professionals with its astounding technical programme that includes technical sessions, poster presentations, panel sessions covering HSE regulations, behavioural safety, social responsibility, HSE management, security, environment, health, and major technical developments in the field.
The event will also feature an international exhibiting platform for all HSE solution providers to showcase their latest products and services.
MEHSSE is sponsored by ADMA-OPCO (Titanium Sponsor), Baker Hughes and Schlumberger (Silver Sponsors), endorsed by OGP and IPIECA, and supported by DMS Insight, GulfOilandGas.com, and Rigsworld, the 2012. MEHSSE will take place at the Beach Rotana in Abu Dhabi, 2-4 April 2012. For further information please visit www.spe.org/events/mehsse.
