Dubai, September 29, 2007: Eighteen students of Master of Quality Management (MQM) from University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) have qualified as Quality Management System (QMS) Lead Auditors, after completing intensive 40-hour courses organized by UOWD's College of Graduate Studies.

The courses, recognized by the International Register for Certificated Auditors in the UK (IRCA), were delivered by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance Ltd (LRQA) in August and September for students who enrolled in Master of Quality Management program.

While congratulating the students on their achievement, Mr. Alaa Garad, Assistant Professor in Quality Management at UOWD, said, "These UOWD students can now conduct external audits to analyze the quality management systems in companies and provide feedback on how they can improve. The Lead Auditors can also participate in Assessment and Certification audits".

UOWD, which has been at the forefront of Quality Management education in the region, offers a Master of Quality Management, a specialized degree that was designed to serve the industry needs for highly qualified quality management professionals.

Dr. Cedwyn Fernandes, the Chair of the College of Graduates Studies, commented, "Collaboration with several prestigious organisations from private and public sectors, such as LRQA, Dubai Quality Award, Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award, European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM), American Society for Quality and the International Standardisation Organisation (ISO), had enhanced the quality of our degree and facilitate excellent student learning outcomes".
