When residents wake up on Thursday morning, a small surprise is waiting for them on their mobile phones. On Wednesday evening, a new network name was implemented to mark the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to the UAE.

Several screenshots sent to Khaleej Times on social media showed the network name reads WelcomePresChina to mark the President Xi's visit to the country.

It also coincides with the UAE-China Week celebrations which kicked off on July 17 and will continue until July 24.

The name change is one of the many ways that the UAE is preparing for the visit. Popular landmarks in Dubai such as the Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab and the Dubai Frame lit up in red to welcome the Chinese premier.
