TUNIS, April 5, 2011 (TAP)- Transportation of goods on board the ships of Tunisia's Shipping Company (CTN ) posted a 7 pc rise during the first 3 months of this year, compared with the same period last year, on its four regular lines: Marseilles, Genoa, Livorno and Barcelona.
In a communiqué released Tuesday, the shipping company described these results as satisfying in such an exceptional and difficult situation.
Out of care to provide its customers, especially exporting firms, with greater transport capacity, the company replaced, at the beginning of the current month, the ship "Catherine" whose capacity did not exceed 170 towed vehicles with a ro-ro-ferry "Straight of Messina" with an additional capacity of 50 towed vehicles.
This ferry, due to serve the southern Mediterranean ports, is expected to meet the needs of the company.
