Egypt sets March 14th as registration deadline for tax-free car import initiative

There is no intention to extend the deadline after March 14th, the minister said

The Minister of finance stated that the deadline for registering for the tax-free car import for expats' initiative and paying for its determined deposit is on March 14th , according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance.

There is no intention to extend the deadline after March 14th, the minister said.

34,000 people have applied for the initiative so far, Maait said, noting that the customs authority releases a number of these cars daily; provided that the indicatory approval is valid for importing the car for a year from the date of issuance.

This initiative is based on the recent decision of the Cabinet to facilitate the import of cars of Egyptians abroad.
