TUNIS - Tunisian-Algerian relations and prospects for further strengthening them through diversification of bilateral co-operation in various fields, notably the military one, in light of the new step made by Tunisia and its people after the Revolution of Freedom and Dignity, were the focal points of the meeting held, on Tuesday, between National Defence Minister Abdelkarim Zbidi and Mr. Mohamed Houcine, Algeria's Ambassador in Tunis.
The Algerian diplomat voiced his Government's satisfaction at Tunisia's political reforms to lay down the foundations of an effective democratic transition.
For his part, the National Defence Minister praised Algeria's support to the caretaker Government and the Tunisian people during this period, and its contribution, as part of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, to the humanitarian work for the benefit of refugees fleeing Libya.
The two sides reasserted joint will to see to it that the future of Tunisian-Algerian relations be a better one and that bilateral co-operation record the hoped-for qualitative leap in the various fields.
